Aftercare Guide
- Leave the Bandage On
Keep the bandage on for 24hrs after your tattoo or suggested amount of time from the artist. This helps protect it from bacteria and allows the skin to begin healing. - Clean Gently
After removing the bandage, wash the tattoo gently with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap. Use your hands—avoid using washcloths or sponges. - Pat Dry
Gently pat the tattoo dry with a clean paper towel or cloth. Avoid rubbing it. - Apply a Thin Layer of Ointment
Use a fragrance-free, tattoo-specific ointment or aftercare lotion (like Aquaphor) for the first few days. After that, switch to a fragrance-free moisturizer. Apply a thin layer to avoid clogging pores. - Avoid Scratching or Picking
As the tattoo heals, it may itch or peel. Don’t scratch, pick, or scrub the area—this can cause scarring and affect the tattoo’s appearance. - Keep It Moisturized
Keep the tattoo moisturized throughout the healing process to prevent dryness and cracking. - Avoid Sun Exposure
Protect your tattoo from direct sunlight until it's fully healed. Once healed, use sunscreen to protect the colors from fading. - Avoid Swimming and Soaking
Do not submerge the tattoo in water (e.g., baths, pools, or hot tubs) until it has fully healed to prevent infection. - Wear Loose Clothing
Try to avoid tight clothing that may rub against the tattoo during the healing period. - Healing Time
Healing usually takes 2-3 weeks for the surface skin, but deeper layers may take longer. Keep caring for your tattoo as it heals.
If you have any questions or notice unusual redness, swelling, or signs of infection, contact your artist or a healthcare professional.
